Exhibitions
Until September 8th, the Pinacothèque hosts two different exhibitions: on the one side, the first retrospective of French Art Nouveau, and on the other, Tamara de Lempicka, an icon of Art Déco. Very social and theatrical, she was one of the first to represent the female figure with a transgressive image.

Cinema
For a unique experience, go to the Nave of the Grand Palais, transformed into a drive-in from June 10th to 21st. Cinema Paradiso will appeal to all the nostalgics of greaseballs and flounce skirts for a cinema show, sat in their car (Fiat 500) or on an artificial hill! On the bill: Grease, Taxi Driver, Pulp Fiction, … while eating a delicious American burger! Advance booking advised.

Opera
The Opéra Bastille will witness the Twilight of the Gods. Wagner’s masterpiece is considered as one of the most monumental works in the history of music. A tragic work, magnified by a striking musical and theatrical breath. Until June 16th.

Restaurants
The former Telegraphe has become Les Climats, with a new red-and-white décor by Bambi Sloan who has given a new life to this old house. The 1905 building is classified and has beautiful Art Nouveau stained glasses, between a garden and a glass roof. On the menu, delicious dishes: frog legs, potatoes emulsion ; veal tartare, garden peas and broad beans purée and ice cream ; milk mousse and red fruits in millefeuille style with green tea. The wine selections come exclusively from Burgundy and run from 15 to 7 000 Euro. Menus at 36 and 45 Euro for lunch, and 75 Euro for dinner. Count 60 to 70 Euro “à la carte” without wines.

Preserving biodiversity

The Saint James Paris has gone beyond the Relais & Chateaux traditional hospitality. Since a few weeks, bees now have their own accommodation in the back of the garden in order to fulfill their crucial task of pollinizing flowers. The guests of the property will also greatly benefit from these 2 beehives, as a delicious home-made honey will appear on their breakfast buffet as soon as September!

Boris the beekeeper will be happy to share his knowledge with our guests during his visits! In the meantime, check the video showing the installation of the beehives.

Re-opening of Le Louxor, Palais du Cinéma

The famous cinema Le Louxor has risen from the ashes!

Designed by the architect Henri Zipcy and inaugurated in 1921, this place used to be the jewel of the Parisian cinema. Owned by the Pathé group, Le Louxor closed on November 30th, 1983, two years after its registration as a historical monument of Paris. Bought by the Tati group, it then became a discotheque, but the building with its neo-Egyptian façade was finally abandoned in 1990. Bought by the city of Paris in 2003, its renovation works started in 2010 only.

Finally inaugurated on April 18th, Le Louxor is back to being what it should always have been: an emblematic place for cinema. Its 3 rooms (the main one can welcome 340 guests and is named Youssed-Chahine as an homage to this famous Egyptian film maker) will be dedicated to arthouse cinema but also to the cinema from the South and to the people living in Barbès, a neighborhood at the crossing of 3 districts: the 9th, the 10th and the 18th.
