Until February 23rd, the Musée des Lettres et des Manuscrits pays a tribute to a multi-talented artist: Jean Cocteau. The exhibition “Jean Cocteau le magnifique: les miroirs d’un poète” presents his ingeniosity fifty years after his death.
150 pieces are presented: manuscripts, letters, works and drawings to relate the carrier of this passionate and sensible multi-talented artist. Among the masterpieces of this retrospective, the famous manuscripts of “Beauty and the Beast” considered as a “Trésor National” and which decors inspired Bambi Sloan in her vision of different spaces at the Saint James Paris. Also on display are his correspondences with his closest friend Edith Piaf and with his great love, the actor Jean Marais.
Fifty years after his death, Jean Cocteau continues to inspire the artists of today.
